Safety Health and Environment”)
promotions are conducted during the
course of the year including two
successfulcustomisedsafetyprogrammes
-a“ProjectSafetyAward”anda“Hand
SafetyCampaign”whereparticipation
fromallemployees(includingsupervisory
staff, general workers), contractors
and sub-contractors were highly
encouraged. The safety programmes
includedelementsofcontinualeducation,
refreshercourses, quizzesandpractical
demonstrations on workplace health,
safetyandenvironment topics to serve
asa reminderofgoodworkplacehealth
and safety practices and behaviour
and to promote ownership ofWSHE
responsibility.Employees, contractors
andsubcontractorsarealsoencouraged
to highlight areas of good safety
performanceandareasof improvements.
Incentivesarepresented toemployees,
contractors and subcontractors who
demonstrateoutstandingsafetyawareness
and performance.
As a constant reminder of safety
precautions and practices, theWSHE
committee places advisory messages
and signboards strategically around
the workplace. Morning tool box
meetingsareheld toevaluateall at-risk
working areas and to raise or discuss
any safety related incidents and case
studies and short falls of its current
practices. Emergency drills with
various scenarios including fire and
rescuearealsoconductedperiodically
by theWSHEcommittee.This isdone
to reinforce the emergency readiness
of our employees and toprepare them
for any potential hazardous incidents
such as fires or gas leaks.
Inaddition, employees regularlyattend
external risk management and safety
courses includingemergency response
team training. By educating and
equipping our employees with safety
awareness and safety knowledge, we
can be sure that our employees adopt
the best workplace safety and health
practices andwork towards achieving
incident-free days. For FY2016, the
Grouphas zero fatalities andhas zero
stopwork orders.
The Group has implemented health
emergency protocols to safeguard its
employees,contractorsandsubcontractors
duringnationalcrisesandcommunicable
diseasesincludingstricthazemanagement
guidelines in line with the Tripartite
Advisory on haze related workplace
measures and quarantine procedures.
Underourhazemanagementguidelines,
employeesare instructedon theprotocol
to be adopted under various 24-hour
PSIscenariosandprotectiveequipment
including N95 respirators are issued
to all outdoor employees and made
readilyavailable toallotheremployees.
Proper sitehousekeeping, regular site
inspection and frequent pest control
(including fumigationand larvaciding)
is carriedout to identifyandeliminate
mosquitoandverminbreedinggrounds.
Ourworkplacesafetyandhealthprocesses
and compliance programmes for the
Group and subsidiaries, go through a
stringent review yearly to ensure the
safetyandwell-beingofouremployees.
