NURTURING
OUR
Humpback
Whales
The humpbackwhale is a baleenwhale and a rorqual whale
that sings amazing songs. It performs complex and cooperative
feeding techniques. Humpbacks are acrobats of the ocean and
travel in large, loose groups that last atmost, a few days. The
exception is the strong and lasting bond betweenmother and
calves, inwhich themother allows its calf to ride on her back as
she propels it towards the surface. This display of guidance and
protection is a prime example of the lengths towhich amother
will go to care for its young.
